Edward P. Woodworth

Edward Patterson Woodworth of Fredericksburg died at home on Monday, Dec. 24, 2012.

Pat was born in San Francisco, Calif., on July 22, 1931, the son of the late Milton and Margaret Young Woodworth.

He graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy in 1953 and the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry in 1962.

Pat is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jane T. Woodworth; his children, Margaret Farrar, Sara Worsham, Bruce Woodworth and David Woodworth; five grandchildren; and his brother, Bruce Woodworth, of Sparks, Nev.

Pat was a life member of the American Dental Association and the Medical College of Virginia Alumni Association. He was also a member of the Fredericksburg Dental Society, the Richmond Dental Association and a Century Club Member of the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association.

Pat moved to King George County in 1962, becoming the county's first dentist. During his 35 years of dental practice in King George, he was a member of the King George Chamber of Commerce and the King George Planning Committee, and he was instrumental in founding the King George State Bank, serving on its board for many years.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, King George, with a celebration of life service beginning at 2 p.m.

A reception will follow in Brock's Riverside Grill, Fredericksburg, from 4 to 6 p.m.
