Date published: 1/1/2013

Spotsylvania County authorities are investigating an armed robbery at a convenience store.

According to Capt. John Pearce of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office, a store clerk at The Barn at Lake Anna at 2800 Lewiston Road in Bumpass reported that an unknown white male entered the store around 7:30 p.m. Sunday and displayed a black gun.

Pearce said the man walked up to the cash register where the clerk was standing and demanded cash. After getting an undisclosed amount of money, he exited the store and went around to the side of the building, Pearce said.

The clerk was not hurt, he said.

It is unclear if the man fled on foot or by another means, but Pearce said Spotsylvania K-9 units' attempts to track a scent were unsuccessful.

The clerk said the man was wearing a gray mask, gray coat, tan pants and gloves. She described him as being between 5-foot-9 inches and 5-foot-11 inches with a medium build.

The investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call the Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office at 540/582-7115.
