Ruth E. Howard, 79, answered the Master's call on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at Mary Washington Hospital, with her daughter, Carlene, and son-in-law Ervin at her bedside.
She is survived by six sons, Roscoe Lewis and Richard (Bridgette), William, Clayton Sr., Garnett (Nancy) and Rodrick (Vicky) Howard; two daughters, Rebecca Claire and Carlene (Ervin) Baker; 28 grandchildren, 44 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Earlene Banks and Ms. Dorothy Turner; and numerous other relatives.
She was predeceased by her husband, William L. Howard; her parents, Fred and Charlotte Lewis; nine sisters; and three brothers.
A viewing will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at A.L. Bennett and Son Funeral Home in Fredericksburg.
