Robert W. Dunn Jr.

Robert Winfrey Dunn Jr., 87, of Chesterfield went home to be with his Lord on Monday, Dec. 31, 2012.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Virginia Dare Dunn; daughter Denise Dunn; son Robert W. Dunn III and his wife, Linda; grandchildren Heather Dunn, Rebecca Dunn and Johnathan Dunn; and a great- grandson, Caleb Macklin.

He was preceded in death by sister Jean O'Hare; and brother Gayle Dunn.

Robert served in the Navy during World War II, as a radioman stationed in Australia, where he copied Japanese code. He worked for the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad for 37 years, retiring in 1984 as an assistant trainmaster. He was a member of Gideons International, helping to place thousands of Bibles in local hotels and hospitals, and was an avid golfer and sports fan.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at the Chesterfield Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 14301 Ashbrook Parkway, and from 1 p.m. to service time Saturday, Jan. 5, at Chesterfield Baptist Church, 16520 Hull Street Road, Moseley, where a service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Chesterfield Baptist Church.
