Pilot Flying J takes over second Carmel Church travel plaza
Date published: 1/4/2013
Tennessee-based Pilot Travel Centers LLC has purchased a second truck stop in the Carmel Church area of Caroline County.
The company bought the travel plaza on the northeast side of the Interstate 95 interchange that includes Wendy's and Patriot Farms restaurants as well as fueling stations, showers and additional amenities catering to truckers.
The facility, which is off State Route 207, was formerly known as Petro. Pilot Travel Centers has been providing diesel fuel to the station for some time.
Pilot Travel Centers, which does business as Pilot Flying J, purchased the facility from Ashland-based Highway Service Ventures Inc. The sales price was $10 million, according to a deed recorded Wednesday in Caroline Circuit Court.
The facility, which is now operated under the Flying J brand, will remain open during a renovation.
Flying J also operates a truck stop on the southwest corner of the Carmel Church exit off Interstate 95.
