Mr. Soaper was a God-loving man. He was baptized at Fairview Baptist Church by the Rev. James Lippincott. He helped to construct First Bible Baptist Temple in Fredericksburg with the Rev. Buzza. Later in life, Lynn attended Fredericksburg Baptist Church where he became a deacon and assistant head of the deaf ministries with the Rev. Charles Christy and the Rev. Larry Haun.

Lynn was a very passionate Washington Redskins fan. He loved teasing his grandsons when the team would beat Dallas. He also supported the Spotsylvania Knights in the '70s; armed with a video camera and bags of confetti, he would take his children to every home game.

He never let deafness stop him. He never used his deafness as a crutch or excuse. Mr. Soaper loved everyone and everyone loved him. There were no strangers in his life. If you met Lynn, he was your friend. He had his way of communicating with everyone he met.

Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 7, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service in Fredericksburg.

A funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Fredericksburg Baptist Church on Princess Anne Street in Fredericksburg. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Bobby Conley, Christopher Hayden, Jessie Mullins Jr., Josheua Mullins, Jeremy Mullins, Ryan Mullins, Matthew Zawisa and Mike Gallagher.

Family and friends are invited to congregate after the services at the Chancellor community building on Old Plank Road.

In lieu of flowers please send donations to Fredericksburg Baptist Church Deaf Ministries.

Condolences may be sent to mullinsthompsonfreder icksburg.com.
