Evelyn Cutchin Drew, 85, passed away Sunday, Jan. 6, 2013, with her family by her side at Mary Washington Hospital.

She was born March 4, 1927, to the late Mary and Paul Cutchin. She was married to her beloved husband, Edward E. Drew Sr., for 58 years. Evelyn taught in Stafford County at Falmouth Elementary and Drew Middle schools. Drew Middle School was named for her son, Edward E. Drew Jr. Evelyn was a longtime member of Ferry Farm Baptist Church.

In her retirement, she enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and crocheting. She loved to watch sports on television, especially the Redskins, the Orioles and Duke's men's basketball team. She enjoyed going out to eat with her close friends and family.

Evelyn graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth and received her bachelor's degree in education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk.

Survivors include her daughter, Dorothy Drew Truslow (Lindsey); two grandsons, Jonathan L. Truslow (Frances) and Christopher Drew Truslow (Sarah); great-grandson Jonah Christopher Truslow; and numerous nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her husband; her son; sisters Dorothy C. Ward, Mary C. Brock and Margaret C. Horne; and brother Paul S. Cutchin.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, at Covenant Funeral Service Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
