Mount Zion Baptist Church, 309 Wolf St., will welcome the Rev. Ronald Cooper, associate pastor at Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site), as the guest speaker on Communion Sunday, Jan. 13, at the 11 a.m. service. 540/373-5553.


Second New Hope Baptist Church, 3836 Summit Crossing Road, will hold the Deacon, Deaconess and Trustee Fellowship celebration on Jan. 13 at 3 p.m., with the Rev. William D. House III, pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church in Mineral as guest speaker, along with his choir, ushers and congregation. Lunch will be served prior to this service, at approximately 1 p.m.

Beulah Baptist Church, 5216 Arcadia Road, will present the initial sermon of Deacon Randy Phillips, who has been called to the ministry and will preach on Jan. 12 at 3 p.m.

The Beulah Thespian Ministry will present the play, "Midnight Cry," on Jan. 19 at 5 p.m., featuring a cast of youth, deacons, trustees and adult members of Beulah.

Church of Messiah, Episcopal, 12201 Spotswood Furnace Road, will hold the final day on Jan. 13 for the collection of canned goods in support of Boy Scout Troop 77's Zach Rudden, as he completes his food drive to assist the Fredericksburg Area Food Bank as his Eagle Scout project. New Life Ministries, State Route 205, Colonial Beach, will offer Dave Ramsey's Financial Peace University on Monday nights at 7 p.m. beginning Jan. 14. This nine week class will teach how to eliminate debt and achieve financial goals.

The church will also offer the following Charis Bible College classes on Monday nights at 7 p.m. beginning Jan. 14.: Old Testament Survey and the Ministry of Jesus. The classes are free. For details call 804/224-8447.


St. Jude Catholic Church, 10725 Courthouse Road, will hold a Christian Music Cafe on Jan. 12 at 7 p.m., featuring an open-mic format to share the many styles of Christian music.
