With this week's opening of a new parking garage at Germanna Community College, the Spotsylvania County campus has finished its construction projects.
Students began the spring semester Monday and for the first time since Aug. 23, 2011, the V. Earl Dickinson Building was available for a full slate of classes. The building suffered significant structural damage during the magnitude-5.8 quake centered in adjacent Louisa County. The closing of the building displaced 4,400 students who had been taking 321 classes in that structure.
Last spring, Germanna's Fredericksburg Campus completed a new science and engineering building, putting three classroom buildings and a parking deck on the college's busiest campus.
