Verna Mae Poindexter Comfort, 84, of Mineral died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Louisa Health Care Center in Louisa.
Born July 20, 1928, in Edwight, W.Va., she was a daughter of the Alexander Poindexter and Susie Scott Poindexter. She was the widow of Wilson P. Comfort Sr.
She was predeceased by her parents; daughter Ruth Anna Gray; brothers Joseph, Harry, Roosevelt, Calvin and Herbert Lee Poindexter; and sisters Florean Anderson and Marion Poindexter.
Verna was a graduate of Louisa Training School. She was a member of Jerusalem Baptist Church.
She leaves to cherish her memory three sons, Wilson Jr. (Rosalyn) of Raleigh, N.C., and James (Sandra) and Maurice Comfort, all of Mineral; daughter Shirley Moore of Baltimore; brother James Poindexter of Mineral; and sister Ruth A. Nelson (Lee) of Baltimore.
A funeral will be held at noon Monday, Jan. 14, at St. John Baptist Church, 5482 Zachary Taylor Highway, Mineral, Va. 23117.
Interment will be in the Poindexter family cemetery.
