A King George County man, already serving a 20-year prison sentence for tormenting his wife, is facing another 15 years after being accused of taking a pornographic picture of his child.
The 41-year-old man, who is not being named to protect the identities of his victims, was indicted by a King George grand jury Thursday on charges of manufacturing child pornography and possession of child pornography. The charges carry a maximum combined penalty of 15 years in prison.
The manufacturing charge carries a mandatory five-year minimum penalty today, but Commonwealth's Attorney Keri Gusmann said that wasn't the case when the picture was taken in 2003. She said detectives found the picture while investigating the man on other charges.
The man was sentenced in King George Circuit Court in September to a total of 135 years with all but 20 suspended.
He was convicted of 10 charges, including malicious wounding, abduction with the intent to defile and multiple counts of sodomy and object sexual penetration.
An investigation began after an Aug. 5, 2011, incident in which the man physically and sexually assaulted another woman at her boyfriend's home in King George. The woman suffered a black eye and lost several teeth in the attack.
The man's wife contacted police about a week later when she learned her husband was in jail. She told police her husband had been tormenting her for years. She had left the man six months before that and was hiding from him at the time.
She said she'd been raped and beaten for years, mostly at times when her husband had been drinking. She was terrified of the man, who she said had told her he would kill her and anyone who helped her if she ever left him. The couple had lived in King George and elsewhere in the area during the marriage.
The man was never released on bond following his arrest.
