No one injured in city drive-by shooting

Fredericksburg police are investigating an incident early Sunday in which multiple shots were fired into a home in the 800 block of Wolfe Street.

No one was injured during the apparent drive-by shooting, which occurred about 1:15 a.m.

City police spokeswoman Natatia Bledsoe said four adults--a mother, her two sons and another woman--were in the home when the shooting erupted.

A neighbor called police after hearing the shots and hearing a vehicle speeding away. No description of the vehicle or the shooter was given. Police were already on the way when one of the residents called and reported that one bullet had come through a window. It was not clear Monday whether any other bullets entered the home.

Bledsoe said the police do not have a motive for the shooting. She would not specify how many shots were fired, but said there were more than three.

Anyone with information is asked to call city police at 540/373-3122.

Spotsy man faces abduction charge

A man wanted on charges of abducting his ex-girlfriend was found and arrested Sunday, authorities said.

Around 4 a.m. Saturday, deputies received a call about a potential abduction in the Lee's Hill area of Spotsylvania County.

According to Sheriff's Capt. Jeff Pearce, a man was accused of abducting his ex-girlfriend from her home in front of several witnesses and forcibly placing her in an unknown vehicle before driving off.

The 21-year-old woman was later released unharmed and confirmed that her ex-boyfriend had kidnapped her, Pearce said.

Pearce said the victim already had a protective order out against the man.

George Franklin Jackson, 23, of Spotsylvania is charged with abduction and assault and battery on a family member.

Pearce said a patrol deputy spotted Jackson driving his car in Spotsylvania Sunday and pulled him over based on the outstanding warrants.

He is being held in Rappahannock Regional Jail.
