Italian eatery opens at England Run site

An Italian restaurant opened recently at The Shops at England Run complex along U.S. 17 in Stafford County.

Roma's Cafe opened about one week ago in a 1,600-square-foot space at 736 Warrenton Road, which is near the intersection of Plantation Drive. The restaurant had previously been at 1719 Warrenton Road, which is about four miles north on U.S. 17.

Roma's is now in a space formerly occupied by the Field House Pizza Pub, which closed this past fall due to a family illness. Roma's has applied to the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control for a license to sell beer and wine.

Roma's Cafe is not affiliated with Roma's Italian Restaurant, which has locations in Fredericksburg and Bowling Green.

MTH Management Corp., which owns the England Run complex, also owns about 10 acres adjacent to the center and has eyed an expansion including new free-standing buildings, but for now the company is not proceeding with the plans, said Vice President J.C. Hall. The company will wait to see the results of a planned project to widen U.S. 17 to six lanes between the Interstate 95 interchange and Stafford Lakes Parkway.
