I am writing because I am a friend of teachers in Stafford County who are being treated like second-class citizens. For the past four years they haven't received a raise or a step increase.
One friend has been teaching for 10 years and is being paid as a sixth-year teacher. And the Board of Supervisors, School Board, and community wonder why they can't keep good teachers.
I feel that teachers should get their steps reinstated and start being paid as they should be. Teachers already go out of their way to help our children and most spend hours of their own time--at the cost of spending time with their own families--trying to help our children.
