Peter A. Katsarelis

Peter Anthony Katsarelis, 92, of Triangle passed away peacefully the morning of Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Helen Georgiades Katsarelis; daughter Angela Katsarelis Beamer (Richard); son Anthony Peter Katsarelis (Robyn); four grandchildren, Andrew and Lacey Beamer, and Bailey and Tanner Katsarelis; brother Manuel Katsarelis; sister Virginia Welch; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pete grew up in Quantico and served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. His B-17 was shot down over Germany and he survived as a POW until the end of the war.

Pete spent most of his postwar career in the automotive sales business with his brother Nick as an office manager for Nick's Pontiac/Oldsmobile. He was a lifelong member of Mary Washington AHEPA, Chapter 290.

The family will receive friends 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave., Richmond, where a Trisagion prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.

A funeral will be held at noon Friday, Feb. 1, at Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, 12326 Spotswood Furnace Road, Fredericksburg, Va. 22407. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. in Quantico National Cemetery. A reception will be held after interment at Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Nativity of the Theotokos Greek Orthodox Church, Fredericksburg; or St. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Richmond.
