Born in Erlangen, Germany, on April 4, 1916, Frau Grete Hirsch ended her 15-year battle with Alzheimer's disease on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013. She went home to join her husband of 52 years, Friedrich, who predeceased her on June 22, 1990.
She had been "visiting" with her daughter Gertraud "Trudy" Clifton at Lake of the Woods for 13 years. She will also reunite with parents Andreas and Babette Pickel; two brothers; and her beloved great-grandson Michael Shane Clifton, who left us 12 years ago.
Surviving "Omi" are grandchildren Barbara and Mark (Susan) Clifton; great-granddaughters Adrienne and Kelsey; and great-great-grandchildren Isaiah Michael, Elijah Matthew and Aaliyah Grace, all of Lexington, Kentucky.
Left to mourn Patin/Tante Grete in Germany are her godchildren Gertraud Berg and Herbert Fischer; nieces Anne Wiedenmann and Ingrid Volz; and nephews Manfred Pickel and Gerhard Jerabek and their families.
