William "Bill" Kimmerling, 79, of Colonial Beach passed away Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at University of Virginia Transitional Care Hospital in Charlottesville.
Bill had retired from NSWC Dahlgren and was very active in the Colonial Beach community. He was a member of the American Legion for 46 years and a past member of the Colonial Beach Fire Department and the Colonial Beach Moose Lodge.
Bill is survived by three daughters, Bernadette Cloniger and her husband, Vernon, of Midland, Bernadine Kimmerling of Maine and Emily Childress and her husband, Joey, of Middletown; a sister, Betty Ann Russell of Fairfax; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and his beloved cat, Tigger.
Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Angelin R. Kimmerling.
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 1, at Nash & Slaw Funeral Home, Colonial Beach, with a service beginning at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery at 2 p.m.
