Gladwyn B. 'Tutt' Sullivan, 91, of Fredericksburg died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at his home.
Mr. Sullivan had retired from the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Sullivan was an outdoorsman and enjoyed farming, gardening and cooking.
Survivors include his wife, Dolores Reeves Sullivan; sons Michael Burruss Sullivan and wife Nancy and James Ronald Sullivan; stepdaughter Linda Cranston and husband Ron; brothers Robert Sullivan and Roland Sullivan; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ethel Elizabeth Carneal Sullivan; and his parents, Burruss Sullivan and Nora Sullivan Fines.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Carneal, Matthew Sullivan, Bobby Sullivan and Kenny Roberson.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mary Washington Hospital Foundation, Cardiac Care Unit, 2600 Mary Washington Blvd., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
