The following students have been selected as the Fredericksburg Optimist Club's Students of the Month for January.

;">Joshua Greenwald, son of Michael and Stacie Fox and Aaron and Kelly Greenwald, was selected at Spotsylvania Career and Technical Center. Josh is enrolled in the Robotics and Telecommunications programs at SCTC and has completed the Information Technologies Pathways and Computer Networking programs. He is a SkillsUSA member and is serving as district parliamentarian and chapter officer. Other accomplishments include membership in the National Technical Honor Society, Cisco Discovery I and II Certifications and OSHA Industrial Safety Certification. His plans after high school include attending college and majoring in information technologies.

;">Amanda Binion, daughter of Linda and Ted Binion, was selected at Riverbend High School. She is vice president of the National English Honor Society and the French Club; and a member of the Spanish Honor Society, National Honor Society, Interact Club, Spirit Club and History Club. She also participates in the Peer Mentor and LAMP programs.

Amanda hopes to attend Randolph-Macon College as a Presidential Scholar.

;"> Anna Ross, daughter of Glenn and Tara Ross, was selected at Chancellor High School. Anna is a member of the drama program, serving as president of the Drama Club. She has participated in numerous roles in plays and musicals, and served as the emcee of Red Box, the improvisational comedy group. She is also president of the National French Honor Society, treasurer of the National Art Honor Society and an executive board member of the National Honor Society. Anna is a member of the Academic Team and the CGS Envirothon Team. She has been a Girl Scout since kindergarten. Anna is a two-time recipient of the CGS Leadership Award and is an AP Scholar with Distinction. She plans to attend Virginia Tech in the fall, majoring in civil engineering and theater.
