BREAKFAST >> Woodpeckers visit Spotsylvania backyard

Visit the Photo Place
Date published: 2/4/2013

Patrick Fell, a University of Mary Washington math instructor who lives in the Chancellorsville area of Spotsylvania County, recently took this photo of pileated woodpeckers enjoying their breakfast. Fell was in his kitchen when he took this photo through the window of the birds on the tree in his backyard. The two woodpeckers are frequent visitors to the tree when the suet container (shown attached to the tree) is full.

When the suet runs out, the birds leave to visit someone else.
