Help S.E.R.V.E. ease misery--right here and now

Date published: 2/6/2013

The voice of need comes with many faces. It may be a mother in need of food for her children, a grandmother who needs prescription medications, or a professional who has never experienced such devastating circumstances before. The shadow of need encompasses us all as a community that cares.

Throughout the holiday season, S.E.R.V.E. (Stafford Emergency Relief through Volunteer Efforts) was blessed with great support for our clients. Thank you all very much. Only through your goodness were needs met.

As we continue to hear what our clients' needs are, we are frequently made aware of situations that are opportunities to make a difference. We seek support from those who want to make life-changing differences as well as to help with emergency needs. There are times when gas cards can change lives: Without gas, the client is unable to get back and forth to work.

Other times, the cure is more costly, such as when a father has finally found work and the family has hope that they will come out of the darkness, but they are two months behind in rent and facing eviction. His new job will never pay enough to allow them to get caught up, but someone out there may be able to help.

Donations to this "Out Of The Box" fund is a calling of discernment and faith. When the equation is laid out right before you and a successful end is in sight for a family, it is hard to not throw them the rope of mercy.

If you want to be a part of these bridges to success, please contact S.E.R.V.E. at 540/288-9603 or send an email to s.e.r.v.e.1979@gmail.com.
