Roland L. Phillips, 64, U.S. Navy veteran, died Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, in Spotsylvania County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roland H. and Rosalie Phillips; son Shane M. Phillips; stepchildren Carol Todd and Stephen Bar-ton; stepgrandchild James Bailey; his first wife, Barbara J. Phillips; his second wife, Barbara C. Phillips; and brother Glen Phillips.

Roland was the loving husband of Susan A. Phillips; devoted father to his daughter, Shawna M. Carrion, stepdaughters Leslie Bailey and Miriam Lipscomb and son Raylee R. Phillips. He is also survived by siblings Ralph, George and Juanita; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Roland worked for the Alexandria public school system for more than 30 years, retiring in 2003.

A visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Cunningham Turch Funeral Home, 811 Cameron St., Alexandria, where a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. Interment will be private.
