Joy Lorraine Hess, 90, of Orange County died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Culpeper Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Hess enjoyed reading, bowling, bridge, cross stitching, puzzles and being a Redskins fan.

Survivors include her children, Jack Byrd and wife Tara, Ron Byrd and wife Terry and Gaye Cook; three stepchildren, Nancy MacArthur, Claudia Hass and June Brown and husband Carroll; sister Margy Gole; 13 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, William T. Byrd; second husband Claude E. Hess; and her brothers, Eugene Palmer and Robert Govan.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
