A Stafford County teen was arrested early Thursday on charges that he broke into two homes on the same street and injured a woman in one of them, police said.

Deputies went to the Ferry Farm subdivision about 1:10 a.m. in response to a reported burglary in progress, Stafford Sheriff's spokesman Bill Kennedy said. A woman who lives on Jefferson Street told police she was awakened by a noise and heard someone going through her home.

The intruder went into a couple of rooms before coming into her bedroom and shining a light into her eyes. He then hit the woman in the head and face with a blunt object, possibly a flashlight.

The woman screamed and the intruder eventually ran out of the home. It was not immediately clear if anything was taken.

The woman suffered cuts and bruises to her head and was treated at a local hospital, Kennedy said.

While police were investigating that burglary, a call came in about an hour later regarding a second break-in at a home just down the same street. A man and his wife were sleeping when they were awakened by a noise in the kitchen. They saw a shadow in their bedroom doorway, and a flashlight was shined in their faces.

The man yelled for the intruder to leave, then went to his gun cabinet to get a weapon. The intruder ran away at that point.

Deputies already had the area surrounded, and within a few minutes, Sgt. Joe Bice had the suspect in custody on Ferry Road. A short time later, a police dog tracked a scent directly to Bice and the suspect, Kennedy said.

Brandon Wayne Felix, 18, who lives in another southern Stafford neighborhood, was charged with two counts of burglary, malicious wounding, being drunk in public and underage possession of alcohol. He was placed in the Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond.

Kennedy said the investigation is ongoing and more charges are possible.
