Battlefield Elementary

The following students were recognized for being trustworthy the second nine weeks:

Third grade--Vincent Burns, Lilly Mote, Angelina Johnson, Blake Hobbs, Radha Decker, Miriam Galvan, Sydney Hastings, Eleanor Byram, Amanda Trapp, Lauren VanValzah, Antonio Ellis, Katy Bronski

Fourth grade--Laura Brooks, Stephanie Lino, Erik Rodriguez, Nakayla Figgins, Emily Schneider, Meghan Miller, Dade Steiniger

Fifth grade--Thomas Newman, Alicia Gomez, Myriam Arbid, Adam Smith, Annaliese Sutton, Cora Belton, Bryce Jones, Andrew Lickman, Cynthia Molina.

Fifth-grader Chase Rose is the Math Problem Solver of the Week.

Chancellor Elementary

School nurse Suzanne Yarboro was chosen as the 2012-2013 Chancellor Superstar.

The third annual "Bail Out the Principal" fundraiser brought in $1,100. Proceeds will benefit the PTA Teacher Grant Program and other PTA initiatives. The classroom that raised the most money was Marsha Winebarger's fourth grade.

Courthouse Road Elementary

Courthouse Road Elementary School's SAM Class (Spotsylvania Autism Model classroom) and the ID classes have Napa the therapy dog visit the classrooms once a month. Napa is a 4-year-old Anatolian Shepherd/Lab/Husky mix. She is a certified Therapy Dog through Therapy Dogs, Inc., and a proud member of Blue-Gray Therapy Dogs with her mommy Meg Haughton. Having Napa in the classroom is a wonderful way to help the students with social skills, attention, improving behavior. Napa helps to reduce stress levels in some of the students. Napa and Meg also volunteer once a month at Helping Hands Inc., a pediatric occupational therapy clinic, where Meg is an occupational therapist.
