Priscilla N. Rains, 71, of Lexington, Mo., passed away Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013, at her home.
Priscilla was born Dec. 11, 1941, in St. Louis, Mo., the daughter of the Rev. Harry J. Rains Sr. and Dorothy Vera Carson Rains. She lived in Missouri, Indiana, Iowa, Virginia and New Jersey before settling in Lexington in 1992. She was a 1959 graduate of James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg and a 1963 graduate of Douglass College/Rutgers University, New Brunswick, N.J.
In 1992, Priscilla retired from the Bank of New Jersey, now known as J.P. Morgan/Chase, after 26 years of service. She was a vice president in the Trust Department of the bank.
Priscilla was a member of Christ Church Episcopal in Lexington and had served on its vestry, and as an organist and Altar Guild member of previous churches.
Survivors include her sister, Elizabeth Rains Johnson and husband Michael of Lexington; a brother, the Rev. H.J. Rains Jr., and wife Sharon of Weaverville, N.C.; nephew Cody Johnson and fiancee Marissa Stubblefield; two nieces, Valerie Rains and Carrie Rains Hooper; grand-nephew Sawyer Johnson; and maternal aunts Leora Courtney and Alice Isbell.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Harry James Rains III.
A visitation will be held from 7 to 8 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 24, at Christ Church Episcopal, 13th and Franklin streets, Lexington. A requiem Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m., Monday, Feb. 25, at the church. Burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery, Lexington.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Priscilla's name to Trinity Episcopal Church, 825 College Ave., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401.
