Christina R. Colson

Christina R. Wilson "Chris" Colson, 49, of Fredericksburg died peacefully at home in the presence of family Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013.

Chris was born Dec. 23, 1963, in Pekin, Ill. She married Randall Colson on May 29, 1982. She attended Kaplan University, where she became certified as a crime scene investigator. Additionally, she was a certified doula and took great pleasure in homeschooling her children.

Her true passions were her God, family and all things eternal. She was a devoted wife, mother, and an integral partner in her husband's 30-year military career. Chris will most be remembered for her indomitable spirit and unwavering, principled approach to living a meaningful life. She enjoyed boating, traveling and making every moment a learning opportunity. She made a difference and her legacy permeates the lives of all who were privileged to know her.

Survivors include her husband, retired Marine Lt. Col. Randall J. Colson; her five children, Dustin S. Colson (Stefanie), Shawna B. Conlin (Zachary), Corey R. Colson (Ciera), Myles H. Colson and Spencer C. Colson; and her precious grandson, Carter, all of whom live in the Fredericksburg area. Additionally, she is survived by her father, Charles A. Wilson (Eleanor) of Knoxville, Tenn.; and three sisters, Rhonda Vogel of East Peoria, Ill., Victoria Sabec (Mike) of Mercier, Wis., and Kim Montgomery (Dale) of Peoria, Ill.

Chris was predeceased by her mother, Mrs. Shirley B. Wilson.

A memorial service will be held at noon Thursday, Feb. 28, at Covenant Funeral Service, Stafford Chapel. Pastor John Cook of Stafford will officiate. Interment will be private in Quantico National Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Stafford funeral home.
