Don't you look foolish

In the Feb. 22 edition of the FLS, Donnie "I don't know nothing about being Catholic" Johnston consumed 29 paragraphs in an inane column on a topic he obviously knows little about nor took the time to research ["Pope knows that a job for life doesn't have to be until death"].

The editors should have looked at this and asked, "Donnie, what is the point of this?" Is it to show a) we here at the FLS do not care about offending our Catholic readers; b) we here at the FLS do not bother to edit columns for content; c) we here at the FLS enjoy letting you look the fool so that we get letters to the editor to publish?

If Johnston had done any research, he would have discovered that the Catholic Church has had Hispanic popes, popes from Spain (Callixtus I and Alexander VI), as well as popes from Africa (Miltiades and Gelasius).

One fact that was correct is that there have not been any women popes because there are no female cardinals. He is also correct in that the Catholic Church has no desire to follow the lead of the Baptist Church or any of its bombastic parishioners.

In addition to looking the fool in what is allowed to be published, Johnston appears too arrogant in his thinking that any religion with rules that do not conform to modern liberalities is wrong.

Fear not, Mr. Johnston, I will still pray for you.
