If only I had bet on how long it would take someone to respond to the Feb. 14 cartoon on the pope, I could be a millionaire right now.
Where has the attitude of "learning to laugh" at life gone? There have been numerous cartoons published in the FLS taking a poke at all walks of life and different people, objects, businesses, and medical institutions. One learns to take it in stride. It gives a chuckle for the day, which is good for the body.
The Feb. 19 cartoon aimed at the postal system's reducing the days of delivery. Do you think someone at the post office will write and say it was degrading and disrespectful to the many employees who may have their hours cut? No, they learn to smile and go on their way.
If anything, this cartoon gave the elderly a thumbs-up that they can be hired by Wal-mart without age discrimination, and it probably increased sales for the day at the local store.
