Agnes E. Skinner

Agnes Edwards Skinner, 91, of Caroline County passed away Tuesday, March 5, 2013, at Hughes Home.

Mrs. Skinner was crowned Miss Fredericksburg in 1960. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Port Royal.

She was a very industrious homemaker and won many blue ribbons and the silver bowl at the Fredericksburg Fair. She won blue ribbons for her quilt making at the state fair in Richmond. Mrs. Skinner walked for more than 40 years and collected over 10,000 Indian artifacts, which are now displayed in the museum at Port Royal.

Survivors include her children Lloyd J. "Johnny" Skinner Jr. (Dawn) of Port Royal, Eddie Skinner (Jacquelyn) of Harrisonburg and Donald "Moe" Skinner (Alice) of Spotsylvania County; son-in-law Hollingsworth "Worth" McMillion of Amelia; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister Dorothy Monroe of Stafford County; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Lloyd J. Skinner Sr.; daughter Gloria Jean McMillion; grandson Mac McMillion; sister Maude Meade; brother Ralph Edwards; half sister Virginia Stevens; and half brother Charles P. Edwards.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 8, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A service will be held at noon Saturday, March 9, at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Memorials may be made in her name to a charity of one's choice.
