Rebecca 'Ruth' Blake

Rebecca Bell "Ruth" Blake passed quietly into the arms of God, surrounded by her family at her home, on Thursday, March 7, 2013, at the age of 81.

She was born in Caroline County on May 6, 1931.

Ruth worked at Morganstern's Pants Factory and in the cafeterias at Caroline County schools. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and an integral partner in her husband'smilitary and federal service career for more than 30 years.

Ruth was a member of Zoan Baptist Church but attended Hopewell United Methodist Church in Guinea for more than 48 years.

Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory son William "Mickey" Blake Jr. and wife Gloria of Caroline County; daughter Mary Janish and husband Wallace of Caroline County; daughter Diane Moore and husband Vic of Mariottesville, Md.; son Buford Blake and wife Cheryl of Columbus, Ohio; and daughter Debra Merryman and husband Tim of Fredericksburg. She is also survived by grandson Marcus Kulynych and wife Robin of Supply; grandson Carl Blake and wife Venus of Fredericksburg; grandson Aaron Moore of Mariottesville; granddaughter Rebecca Matthews and husband James of Charlotte, N.C.; granddaughter Krystle Cain of Ashland; granddaughter Danielle Blake of Stafford County; granddaughter Meagan Merryman of Fredericksburg; nine great-grandchildren; sister Mary Shelton and husband Roland of Caroline; brother-in-law Bill Rowland of Caroline; sister-in-law Barbara Martin of Spotsylvania County; and many nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William Mackey Blake Sr., and grandson Jonathan Lewis Blake.

Pallbearers will be sons Mickey and Buford Blake; grandsons Marcus Kulynych, Carl Blake and Aaron Moore; great-grandson Connor Kulynych; and nephews Junior Martin and Chris Shelton.

A viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at Storke Funeral Home, Bowling Green. A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 10, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
