The 2013 Chappell Lecture Series, "Great Lives," continues on Tuesday, March 12, with one of America's most trusted and beloved television newscasters. Walter Cronkite (affectionately referred to as "Uncle Walter" by many viewers) will be discussed by Douglas Brinkley of Rice University, the author of "Cronkite."
In a time when the mainstream media are often vilified, it's difficult to remember a time when a newsman was so respected (although he had his detractors, too). He anchored "The CBS Evening News" for 19 years until his retirement in 1981.
All lectures are open to the public free of charge and begin at 7:30 in Dodd Auditorium, George Washington Hall. For further information, call the Events Information Line
