In 1950, Mrs. Monroe married the love of her life, Earl S. Monroe of Hartwood, and together they spent 62 years building a beautiful life. She was a loving mother and wife, always putting her family first. Mrs. Monroe had been a member of Ramoth Baptist Church for more than 75 years. She sang in the choir and served the Sunday school and other ministries. For more than 30 years, she worked as the church sexton.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by daughter Brenda Monroe Weaver (Wayne) of Spotsylvania County; son Brian Monroe (Beth) of Pawleys Island, S.C.; grandchildren George, Spencer and John Monroe and Stefanie and Travis Weaver; sister Doris Johnson (Thomas) of Manassas; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.
A service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, at the funeral home chapel. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
Memorials may be made in her name to the Parkinson Foundation of the National Capitol Area, 8300 Greensboro Drive, Suite 800, McLean, Va. 22102; or to the Ramoth Baptist Church Building Fund, 478 Ramoth Church Road, Stafford, Va. 22554.
