Government is too big

After reading the Feb. 21 editorial, "Sequestration hurts," I'd like to comment. First, the entitlements: Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security.

For all my years working, I paid and the companies paid into Social Security taxes to be used in my retirement at age 65. The government was caretaker of those resources, but through the years spent it and paid with IOUs. That was mine and not the government's money, although today they act like it was theirs. Medicare we pay for, so that is not an entitlement.

Now Obamacare is an entitlement (handout) free to people who can't pay for it, which extorts billions of dollars from Medicare. The president signed this problem into law to tax the wealthy and was supposed to make spending cuts accordingly--which he never did, so now he has this problem down the road.

The automatic cuts he signed into law. Now he's crying wolf again. This is the leadership you got with your vote, so eat crow. The House sent several bills to the Senate regarding this problem, but the Senate failed to do its job.

Our military has put it on the line for so many wars the government put them into and now has cut its budget.

Our government is too big. I see the park-and-ride area nearby filled to the brim except for national holidays, so maybe it needs thinning out? Seems like Interstate 95 needs four more lanes for government workers now.
