On Tuesday, March 12, 2013, Doretha R. Davis, 59, of Locust Grove departed this life at Mary Washington Hospital.

She was born in Cheasapeake on Oct. 18, 1953, to the late Ceolus Martin of Martinsville and Lucille Womack.

Doretha was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School. She received training as a certified nurse's assistant and worked at the M.D. Anderson Medical Center in Houston. Upon her return to Virginia, she worked as a respiratory technician at Norfolk Community Hospital and for several nursing agencies in Northern Virginia before retiring.

She leaves to cherish her memory a husband, Leo Davis Jr.; four daughters, Felicia Lindsey and Tisha McCatty of Norfolk, Tanya Lockwood and Tenielle Jennette of District Heights, Md.; one stepson, Steven Davis of New Orleans; two brothers, Lawrence Bland Jr. and Frank A. Bland; three sisters, Phyllis Graham of Saluda and Gwendolyn Joyner and Catherine Davis of Locust Grove; 13 grandchildren, Jeremiah Jenette, Trejuan Jennette, Gregory Lindsey, Victor Lindsey, Isaiah Lindsey, Jayden Brooks, Sydney Davis, Steven Davis Jr., Latoya Green, Starr Yelton, Shenea Lockwood, Michela McCatty and Illana Davis; and one great-grandchild, Giovanni Lindsey.

A service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. Entombment will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
