In reference to Donnie Johnston's column, "60 is the new 20? Not for most folks today" [March 16]--I say bring it on!
As someone who will turn 60 in August, I can't wait.
It is all about attitude. Have I lost a step or two over the years? You bet. But I'm still up at 5 a.m. every weekday, making the trek to D.C. for my 10 hours in the government salt mine, then back home after 7 to be with the family.
I lost 30-plus pounds three years ago, which was the start of a new life. I hit the gym five days a week, and have run two Warrior Dashes. We've targeted a Tough Mudder this spring and are planning to climb Pikes Peak for my 60th birthday later this summer, since I did it the last time when I was 20.
Facebook, Twitter, Windows 8, Netflix, my Mini iPad and a gorgeous wife who looks pretty much the same as when I married her 33 years ago keep me thirsting for the next new thing and focused on working hard and having fun while I'm at it.
So if 60 is the new 20--bring it on. It's all a matter of how you approach life. Live it!
