Margaret Joan Chestnut, 77, of Fredericksburg went home to be with the Lord Jesus on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, after a long illness.
She was born and raised in east Tennessee and moved to Fredericksburg in 1962, when she married her late husband of 41 years, Carol "C.G." Chestnut.
Mrs. Chestnut graduated from East Tennessee State University with a degree in education. She was a retired Spotsylvania County school teacher with 34 years of service.
She was a member of Fredericksburg Baptist Church, where she attended for more than 40 years.
She is survived by her son, Keith Chestnut of Fredericksburg; her daughter, Kim Shipes and husband Eric of Spotsylvania; her granddaughter, Ariane Shipes of Spotsylvania; and one sister, Phyllis Goudarzi of Johnson City, Tenn.
A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, at Memorial Funeral Chapel in Elizabethton, Tenn. Burial will follow in Happy Valley Memorial Park.
