Carmine W. DePietro

Carmine William "Bill" DePietro, 77, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013, in The Villages, Florida, with his wife of 27 years, Carol, by his side.

Born Nov. 19, 1935, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was an avid golfer, decorated Vietnam Marine combat veteran, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He retired after 20 years of service as a Major from the United States Marine Corps. He was a helicopter and fighter pilot. Among his decorations, he was awarded the Bronze Star with "V" and The Distinguished Flying Cross.

Bill is survived by his wife, Carol Cooke DePietro; brothers and sisters John DePietro of Struthers, Ohio, Shirley DePietro of Youngstown, Ohio, Judy Smith of Columbus, Ohio, Armand "Duke" DePietro of Poland, Ohio, and Carol Lennox of Struthers, Ohio; his children, Debbie Schaffer, Billy DePietro and Mark DePietro; stepchildren Dot Kilpatrick, David Kennedy and Chris Kennedy; 15 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and extended family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Marion County, Inc. , 3231 SW 34th Ave., Ocala, Fla. 34474.

Burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
