CYT's 'Wizard of Oz' was well worth the long drive

My daughter convinced me that driving to Spotsylvania High School to see her friend in a play was a good idea. After seeing the fabulous performance of "The Wizard of Oz," I knew she was wrong. It was an excellent idea.

It was well worth the drive from Charlottesville to enjoy the delightful evening in the Land of Oz.

I learned for the first time about Christian Youth Theater and its track record of quality productions. The talent on stage was stellar, and the Scarecrow was startled by a most provocative set of crows. The Wicked Witch made me very nervous.

I must also admit my favorite character was the Cowardly Lion. He relied on the Wizard for courage but the prayer that was given by a young performer to bless the evening was yet a reminder of the Scripture: "Be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord."

Thank you for a wonderful evening. May the Christian Youth Theater continue to grow in God's glory.
