Maxine Miller

Maxine Evelyn Longley Miller, 90, died March 23, 2013, at Brandermill Health Center in Midlothian.

Mrs. Miller was preceded in death by devoted husband George Wingate Miller; loving son Gregory Miller; and brothers Samuel and Charles Longley.

Born in Key West, Fla., Mrs. Miller spent the first 33 years of her life in Washington, D.C., and many subsequent years in Silver Spring, Md., and Alexandria. She graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in 1940. It was at a Navy dance in Washington, D.C., that year where she met her future husband, George. After his return from Pearl Harbor and the South Pacific, they married in 1944 and, until his death, continued a devoted and fulfilling life together for 61 years.

Mrs. Miller lived at Lake of the Woods, Locust Grove, with her husband for more than 23 years. She was an active member of the square and round dance groups and bridge club.

Mrs. Miller is survived by children, Barbara Nenno (Brian) of Moseley, Christopher Miller of Fairfax, Yvonne Miller of Charlottesville, Keith Miller of Alexandria, and daughter-in-law Deborah Miller (widow of Gregory Miller) of Corona, Calif. Besides her children, Mrs. Miller is survived by grandchildren Jeffrey Zona of N. Myrtle Beach, S.C., Rebecca Schmidt (Marc) of Richmond, and Alexander, Erick, Matthew and Michael Miller of Corona, Calif.; and great-grandchild Stefan Schmidt.

A memorial service is to be scheduled at a later date. A funeral service will be held in the future at Arlington National Cemetery, where Mrs. Miller will be inurned with her husband.
