James P. Tucker Jr.

James P. Tucker Jr., 78, of Locust Grove passed away on Friday, April 26, 2013, at Mary Washington Hospital, Fredericksburg.

He was born on Dec. 31, 1934, in Charlotte, N.C., to J.P. and E. Gertrude Parrish Tucker.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Martha Horne Scott and Elsie Paige Cookman; and his brother, Vinton Willis Tucker.

He is survived by two sons, J.P. III (Tracy) and Thomas P. Tucker, both of Locust Grove; also his "big mean" sister, Mary Jean Swiger of Orange; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was a published author by 1956, at the early age of 22. His journalism career spanned 61 years. He worked for many newspaper publications including: Richmond Times-Dispatch, Martinsville Bulletin, Washington Daily News and the American Free Press, just to name a few.

It has been said that Jim was the "world's foremost authority" on the Bilderberg Group. He worked relentlessly for over 30 years reporting and writing on them and the Trilateral Commission.

A visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 1, at Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove. A graveside service will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 2, at Zoar Baptist Church cemetery, Locust Grove, with a reception to follow services at the church.
