William Henry “Himmer” Rollins Sr., 88, departed this life on Wednesday, May 1, 2013, at Memorial Regional Medical Center.

He was born July 15, 1924, to the late William and Lelia Fortune Rollins. At an early age, he accepted Christ at Jerusalem Baptist Church, and later became a member of St. Stephens Baptist Church in Central Point, where he served as an usher, Sunday School superintendent and deacon for more than 50 years.

He was united in holy matrimony on Aug. 31, 1946, to Annie Richardson Rollins, who preceded him death.

He leaves to cherish his memory a son, William H. Jr. (Erma); a daughter, Pamela Scott; and Doris Fortune and Juanita Schneiber, whom he raised as his own; one sister he loved dearly, Mary R. Byrd; a special, caring niece, Betty M. Byrd; two brothers-in-law, Grover Richardson (Linda) and Francis Richardson (Jean); five sisters-in-law, Carrie Rollins, Virginia Pitts, Florence Richardson, Virginia Richardson and Susie Richardson; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Himmer worked for Farmers Tire Co. for 30 years before he retired. Uncle Himmer was loved by his community at Courthouse Lane Apartments and the Rappahannock Agency on Aging, and will be missed by all who knew him.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 4, at St. Stephens Baptist Church, Sparta Road, Bowling Green, Va. 22427. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
