Frances M. Brintley

Frances Mills Brintley, 78, passed away Friday, May 3, 2013, at Mary Washington Hospital.

Born in Spotsylvania County, Frances was an active member of her community and served as Girl Scout Council President. After graduating from Spotsylvania High School in 1954 as class valedictorian, Frances went on to graduate from the Realtor's Institute in 1972. Professionally, Frances was an accomplished real estate agent and broker. She received numerous awards throughout her long career, including a Lifetime Realtor's Hall of Fame Award from the Fredericksburg Association of Realtors, and served as President of the Fredericksburg Board of Realtors. Frances served as President and owner of Fredericksburg Realty until she retired, when she became an appraiser for the City of Fredericksburg.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Charles A. Brintley; her daughter, Dianne Brintley of Rhoadesville; two sons, Allen Brintley (Lisa) of King William County and Clarence Mills (Lynn) of Spotsylvania; a brother, Thomas W. Mills (Lillie) of Spotsylvania; and sister Pearl M. Tinder (Charles) of Gaffney, S.C. Frances is also survived by four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-grandson.

Frances was preceded in death by her mother and father, Julia Coakley Mills and Wilson Mills; and her daughter, Frances B. Greene.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 7, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 8, at the funeral home chapel, with Pastor James Coleman officiating. A graveside service will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
