Stanley Tomaszewski

Stanley Walter Tomaszewski, 81, of Lake of the Woods in Locust Grove passed away Saturday, May 4, 2013, surrounded by his family.

Stanley was born Aug. 25, 1931, to Stanley Andrew and Regina Wroblewski Tomaszewski in Buffalo, N.Y. He proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps from January 1951 to January 1954. Stanley married Dorothy J. Kozlowski on Aug. 8, 1953, in Buffalo.

He received a bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Buffalo and then worked across the United States as an industrial engineer for various companies, retiring from Abbott in 1996.

He remained active by participating in the Veterans and Senior games, winning medals in running, walking, golf and other events.

Survivors include his wife of almost 60 years, Dorothy; two sons, David and wife Tammy and Paul and wife Shirley; two daughters, Ginny and husband David Vickers and Kathy and husband Bill Oliver; five grandchildren, Kristen, Kasha, Joshua, Trisha and Tina; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan, McKenna, Alex, Anna and Ava. He was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Samantha.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, May 11, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Laurel Hill Funeral Home, Spotsylvania. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday, May 13, at Precious Blood Catholic Church, Culpeper, with the Rev. Anselme Malonda-Nkuanga officiating. Burial will follow in Culpeper National Cemetery.
