Kelly Sarah Waalkes Butler, 50, of Fredericksburg died Sunday May 5, 2013, at her residence.

She was formerly an art teacher at the Highland School in Warrenton. She was actively involved in the local Fredericksburg art community and was a member of Art First.

She was a devoted wife and mother. She lived her life to the fullest and loved to laugh. Her favorite quote was "a little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down my pants" by Chuckles the Clown.

In addition to her parents, Kelly was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Butler. She is survived by two sons, Allen and Brewster Butler; and four brothers, Richard, Michael, Steven and Robert Waalkes; and a sister, Nancy Waalkes.

A celebration of her life will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, at Mullins & Thompson Funeral Service, Fredericksburg Chapel, 1621 Jefferson Davis Highway.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to "Trustee of the Kelly S. Butler Trust UAD 2/13/12" for the benefit of her sons' education fund. Donations may be mailed to PBMares Wealth Management, 725 Jackson St., Suite 210, Fredericksburg, VA 22401.
