Erika Anhorn Harrison, 62, of Port Royal passed away Monday, May 6, 2013, in Caroline County.
Erika Krimhilde Einhorn was born Aug. 23, 1950, in Kleinheubach, Germany. She immigrated with her parents, Josephine and Johann Einhorn, and her siblings through Ellis Island to the United States shortly thereafter.
The family shortened their last name of Einhorn to Anhorn and relocated to Pennsylvania, where Erika and her sister, Gerda, attended primary and secondary schools.
Erika later married Robert E. Harrison and settled in the Milford area. She dedicated her life to wildlife rehabilitation and cat and dog rescue and adoptions.
She is survived by her sister, nephews, nieces and an extended circle of family and friends who loved her.
Erika will be remembered by those who knew her as soft-spoken, kind and generous to all and unfailingly devoted to the care of wild and domestic animals.
Johnson Funeral Home, Locust Grove, is handling the arrangements. All services are private.
Charitable donations may be made in Erika's name to Prevent-A-Litter (P.A.L.), 3421 W. Cary St., Richmond, VA 23221, 804/359-MEOW, a nonprofit organization that provides pet spay and neuter services to animals in need of assistance.
