Robert A. Rouse

Robert A. Rouse, 64, passed away peacefully Monday, May 13, 2013. He was cherished by his wife, family and friends. Bob and Brenda lived in Fawn Lake, Spotsylvania County.

Bob was born on March 12, 1949, in Painted Post, N.Y. A stellar graduate of Corning High School with football scholarships, he settled on University of Rochester, class of '71, MBA studies, Fordham University. He was an only son amongst six sisters with many fond memories of "upstate" country living.

Bob's professional career of 32 years began with Rochester Telephone, heading the RCI subsidiary. His leadership career continued in executive operational positions for large multinational IT networking companies. He enjoyed a dynamic MCI culture from 1986 to 1997, from director of NYC Ops to VP of Eastern Ops in D.C. Bob was soon pegged for Senior VP Ops with MCI/British Tel, a joint venture for global IT services called Concert.

He traveled extensively overseas to multinational corporate customers. He accepted the COO offer of Tampa's Intermedia before WorldCom-MCI. Within a few years he couldn't resist the challenges with Bethesda's Optiglobe as COO and later CEO with data centers in Sao Paulo, Buenos Aires, Mexico City and Santiago. Working with Latin government and business heads required Bob's energy, personal style and resourceful mind.

Bob retired in 2003 after Brenda convinced him to break from a hectic career. He stayed active with sports and home projects. He was a natural for baseball, football, ski racing, tennis and enjoyed deep-sea fishing and fly fishing on his boat. Golf became a passion with his fierce but friendly competitive spirit.

He walked shelter dogs, hauled boxes for the food bank and put construction skills to work for Habitat for Humanity. Bob loved his family and helping others in so many ways.
