Edgar D. Morris

Edgar Derward Morris, 83, of Stafford County died peacefully on Saturday, June 8, at Mary Washington Hospital.

He was born in Rome, Ga., on Sept. 25, 1929, to the late Vera and John D. Morris.

Mr. Morris served in the Marine Reserves after graduating from James Monroe High School in 1948. Before retiring, he worked at Colonial Press and became a co-owner of MJ Printers.

He most recently attended Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church, but was instrumental in starting St. Matthias United Methodist Church in Stafford some years ago. He was also active for many years in Boy Scout Troop 171 and in the development of Grafton Village pool.

Survivors include his devoted wife of 62 years, Roselyn Morris; a son, Butch and his wife, Beverly, of Fredericksburg; a grandson, Casey Morris of Seattle, Wash.; and a sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ellen and Bradley Chewning of Harrisonburg.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 12, in Sunset Memorial Gardens, 3702 Jefferson Davis Highway, Fredericksburg, with the Rev. Allen Fisher Jr. officiating.

A reception at Fredericksburg Presbyterian Church, 810 Princess Anne St., will be held immediately after the service.
