Here's my response to Jose Yac's letter "Immigrants pursue the American dream" [May 28]:
I do oppose immigration reform. My ancestors came from Ireland and Scotland. My wife's ancestors came from Italy, and they did it the legal way, coming in via Ellis Island. They waited in long lines; they had to learn English.
We don't need this volume of people. They put a burden on our schools, food stamps, Medicare, and welfare, to name a few. They come here, drive with no license, and take jobs from Americans. You all stay where you came from and we can take all these people on welfare and put them to work.
Obama offers immigrants all this free stuff for the Hispanic vote.
