Donna Martin Pattie, 67, died Monday, June 17, 2013, at her home in Dumfries surrounded by family.
Born in Greenbelt, Md., May 31, 1946, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Hubert and Jessie Frances Martin of Appomattox. She was married to Frederick Martin Pattie for 45 years.
She moved to Woodbridge with her family in early childhood and graduated from Johnston Willis Nursing School in Richmond as a registered nurse in 1967. She worked at Mary Washington Hospital in Fredericksburg until 1973.
She was a dedicated member of the Dumfries Triangle Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary for 45 years. She enjoyed being a member of the Crafty Ladies group of the Dumfries United Methodist Church. She was a remarkable woman who dedicated her life to volunteering and taking care of others. She was devoted to her family, relatives, nursing classmates and many friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister-in-law Elaine Stephens.
She is survived by her husband, Frederick Martin Pattie of Dumfries; son Chad Pattie of Dumfries; daughter Joye Nichols and her husband, William, of Dumfries; granddaughter Bailey Pattie Novellino of Dumfries; sister Annie Roach and her husband, Rodney, of Lovingston; in-laws Linda and Joe Lowry of Richmond, Bonnie and John F. Pattie Jr. of Stafford County, Carol and Robert Pattie of Manassas and Luke Stephens of Woodbridge; and aunt Virginia Lucado of Keysville.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, June 21, at Mountcastle Funeral Home, 4143 Dale Blvd., Dale City.
